- The "Rompe el cristal" survey gathers the opinion of more than 6,200 young people on the challenges
regarding the challenges of current Spanish politics
On the eve of next Sunday's general elections, the Youth Council
of Spain (CJE) and the citizen participation software and consulting company, Osoigo
Next, have developed the listening process "Break the glass" with the aim of knowing
the opinions of young people in view of the imminent elections, their relationship with
the political system and, especially, their position on the issues that most affect them
.
The survey, which was carried out between the third and fourth week of June, involved
more than 6,200 young people between 14 and 30 years of age. Among the results, it stands out that
59% of the people surveyed state that they do not feel represented in the Spanish political system
, and, nevertheless, 86% of the young people with the right to vote declare that they will go to
the ballot boxes next Sunday 23-J.
Housing, the main concern of Spanish youths
When asked about what should be the priorities of the next government in terms of youth
, housing undoubtedly emerged as the main concern of the
surveyed.
Housing policy, as a condition for the possibility of emancipation and the
constitution of a life project of their own, was selected by 74% of the
surveyed as a priority element to be addressed by the future government, which ratifies, once again, that it has become one of the main challenges and problems of the
Spanish youth.
The second highest priority
(selected by 67% of respondents) is the improvement of working conditions,
followed by the adoption and deepening of mental health measures (46%),
as well as the fight against the climate crisis (31%), the broadening and facilitation of channels
for citizen participation in public affairs (23%), or the promotion of effective equality (23%).
Interest in politics and trust in the institutions.
As for interest in politics, 55% said they felt "very interested" and 34% "somewhat
interested" in politics, although only 41% of those surveyed said they felt
represented by the Spanish political system.
Asked about the level of trust they have in the different institutions, and
arranged from highest to lowest, they said they trusted the Congress (50%), the political parties
(43%), the Senate (39%) and, finally, only 37% of those surveyed declared
a positive degree of trust in the figure of the Head of State.
Consumption of political content in tiktok
Regarding the habits of consumption of information or content related to politics,
43% of respondents claim to have seen political content or opinions on the social network
Tik Tok in the "last week"; this figure rises to 63% when it comes to
young people between 14 and 20 years old, which corroborates that it is a favorite platform
for the younger audience.
The Youth Council of Spain is a platform with more than 60 youth organizations
that since 1983 is committed to defend the rights of young people and
participate in the policies that affect them. Therefore, in view of the elections,
wanted to give a voice to young people so that they can express their opinions through their own portal
participation, and thus place the needs of young people at the center of the debate
electoral.
The company specialized in the development of citizen participation portals, Osoigo

and the design of the survey, the analysis of the results and the preparation of the report.
