Emancipation Observatory

The Emancipation Observatory of the Spanish Youth Council integrates and expands in a single publication the previous Observatorio Joven de Vivienda en España (OBJOVI) and Observatorio Joven de Empleo en España (OBJOVEM).

Its main objective is to offer a periodic and exhaustive monitoring of some objectifiable elements related to employment and housing that define the living conditions and the processes of transition to adulthood of the young population in Spain. By offering a quantitative and descriptive perspective, the Emancipation Observatory of the Spanish Youth Council shuns causal and all-encompassing arguments to limit itself, in a more humble way, to offering selected indicators that illustrate the socio-demographic profile and the options for accessing the labor market and the housing market of young people in Spain at a given moment in time.

The youth population is considered to be all those between 16 and 29 years of age . However, in this study we offer data for people up to 34 years of age, placing the greatest point of interest and detail in the specific range of 16 to 29 years of age, a European standard in research and institutional reports on youth employment.
